Community Workshops

Getting Publish Ready

This is a twelve-week course which explores practical techniques involved in the craft and production of published writing. You will have the chance to collaborate and contribute to a published collection on completion.

There will be a one-hour taught lesson on the weekly subject area. You will then spend the next hour working in prose, creative non-fiction, poetry, or scripts to carry out creative exercises both as individuals and part of the group.

We will also examine the application of different forms such as genre fiction, plays and screenwriting and/or historic influences and how these can impact the creative elements in your writing. You will be encouraged to find different ways of writing and seeing.
The workshop formats to our classes, create a safe environment to experiment, critique and create new writing. Each week we will carry out warm up exercises, critical reading discussions, creative workshopping and you will be provided with (non-compulsory) weekly writing prompts to encourage and expand your learning beyond the session.
